Hino Motors Philippines Corp. (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the country, re-asserts its strong campaign for solid growth this year with its 20,000th unit sales milestone recently.

The landmark 20,000th vehicle, a FG8J 500 Series road truck model assembled exclusively for Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, Inc. was unveiled at a ceremony held at the HMP plant facility in Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna. HMP President Hiroshi Aoki along with Chairman Vicente T. Mills, Jr. handed over the symbolic key to Coca-Cola Femsa Phils. Inc., Chief Finance Director (CFO) Sunil Gupta.

Witnessing the event as well are Hino employees and senior officials led by Hino Motors, Ltd. (HML) President Yasuhiko Ichihashi, Marubeni Corporation (MC) Exec. Officer and COO Hisamichi Koga, Professional Managers Inc. (PMI) Chairman and President Jose S. Sandejas, together with other guests from Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines.  A ceremonial tree-planting was also held in commemoration of the milestone unit sale.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Mills expressed his gratitude to all who have supported Hino since the very beginning. “This is truly a special day for all HMP people as this marks the culmination of many years of commitment and efforts. As a reliable partner in business growth, Hino aims to contribute more to the Philippine economy through our premium quality commercial vehicles,” he said.

In behalf of Coca-Cola FEMSA Phils.Inc., Mr. Gupta congratulated Hino Motors for reaching this milestone achievement.  “In line with the significance of true partnership, I wish them all the best and we look forward to being partners in many more years,” Mr. Gupta said.

Partners in progress

For his part, Mr. Aoki said they are very pleased and honored by HMP’s recent success. With partners like Coca-Cola FEMSA Phils. and as the economic situation in the Philippines remains on the uptrend, he is very optimistic that Hino will move forward as a stronger, more competitive brand in the commercial truck and bus industry.

“We really appreciate this milestone. This may be a humble feat for now but it is a strategically an important step for the company as it aims to make giant leaps in terms of domestic sales this year. With that, we would like to thank the government, most especially our customers for their encouragement and support,” he commented.  “Both Coca-Cola FEMSA and Hino Motors have been driving progress in the Philippines. Coca-Cola is a long-time customer; we’ve been partners with them since the mid-80s. They look at the transport side as a very important side of their business. We were able to respond to their requirements, especially in terms of designing specific application features for their vehicles and after-sales maintenance services,” Mr. Aoki noted.

“Trucks and buses are very important factors for economic development. Buses for transporting people back and forth and trucks for bringing cargo at the right time at the right place, efficiently. We see Hino delivering more brand new trucks, with better quality, long-lasting and with better fuel consumption, therefore lowering running costs for the consumer. Because of our product line, we’ve been able to contribute to the faster growth of the economy because our goods and people are transported efficiently, cheaper and in a safer way,” Mr. Mills, for his part, added.

Inspired to deliver

On why Hino trucks and buses are considered the best there is in the market, Mr. Aoki said that the company has established itself as a brand known not only for top-notch, value-for-money customized vehicles but also for its after-sales services to customers. HMP currently has 15 full-line dealers which are strategically located across the Philippines.

“Our business here in the country is very unique. We don’t only provide chassis; we provide customized truck and bus bodies and that is a strong point that is found only here in HMP. We are also the only vehicle manufacturing company that offers clients a three-year unlimited mileage warranty,”  Mr. Aoki noted, adding as well that Hino takes pride in building “not just the hardware, but also the software, meaning the people behind Hino who passionately strive to provide customers complete, focused service.”

Hino Motors Philippines is the only truck and bus manufacturing company that offers benchmark-leading customization — from assembling the vehicle, to building the body per the desired specification of the client, to vehicle maintenance, repair, and refurbishing. The company has produced versatile trucks and buses that cater to various industries such as for logistics, healthcare (mobile clinics, X-ray vans and hospital buses), and government use, among others.

“Being a reputable commercial truck and bus provider for 41 years, we have always aimed to go beyond and above our customer expectations. To do so, one such advantage that Hino Motors Philippines has is that we have our own body building facility. We can customize many of our trucks and bus bodies to the specific local application. We provide that extra effort because we can customize according to the needs of the trucker or a bus operator so that they can benefit more, that is our inspiration, to be a one-stop shop,” said Mr. Mills.

Building on this momentum, Mr. Aoki said the company looks forward to begin a new chapter of milestones, confidently assuring customers of optimal vehicle solutions and service offerings to come in the following months. “We are confident that our commercial vehicles will be able to compete in a level playing field with competitors. We also anticipate greater things to happen for Hino, like increased demand for our existing and upcoming truck and bus models which will be well-suited for the Philippines’ positive business climate.”
