The Spiral Master Chefs heighten the gastronomic experience for the family as they present an expansive selection of dishes featuring family favorite dishes of celebrity working moms Christine Sandejas and Suzi Abrera. Christine teams up with French Master Chef Julien Cosse in showcasing the family-favorite Calamari Fritti, Beef Lasagna and Tiramisu while Suzi Abrera teams up with Japanese Chef Masaaki Ishigawa to create curry salmon maki and California maki; Spiral’s culinary artisans also concoct the Moroccan Chicken Tagine with preserved lemons and olives and the Banana Chia Pudding. Indulge in scrumptious specialties dedicated by Spiral’s Master Chefs to their mothers featuring: Beef Tongue with Pickled Sauce from the French Stove, Yong Tau Fu (vegetables stuffed with minced seafood served with brown bean sauce) from the Chinese Wok, Bengali Mustard Fish Curry from the North Indian Atelier, Flower Pork Belly Shabu-Shabu and Cake Sushi from the Japanese Atelier, Clam Stew with Basil from the Thai Atelier, Fried Fish with Chili Paste Sauce from the Korean Atelier and the classic Menudo from the Filipino Atelier. La Pâtisserie presents delightful desserts in big and small versions for Mommy and her young prince or princess.

CHRISTINE JACOB-SANDEJAS

Olympian and television host Christine Jacob-Sandejas is an epitome of a working mom, successfully balancing her showbiz career and big family. Currently host of a morning news program and a lifestyle talk show, she is a full-time mother of five: 18-year old Paolo, 17-year old Gabby, 15-year old Nina, 12-year old Luis and 8-year old Jaime and loving wife to engineer Paco Sandejas. Christine shares fond memories of her childhood spent at Sofitel: “I remember when I was a young girl, my parents would treat my siblings and I to a day of swimming and indulging in good food at the Philippine Plaza. I also had my prom here so the property definitely holds a special place in my heart.”

Christine takes pride on being a hands-on mom, making sure she spends plenty of time with her family and bonds with them through their love for sports. While the boys Paolo, Luis and Jaime play football, Gabby and Nina regularly play tennis after school. With a physically active lifestyle and being surrounded by family members like their dad and aunts who are likewise health buffs, Christine’s children have followed a healthy diet that include Caesar or Greek salad, fish, chicken, brown rice or quinoa. Saturdays are family days for the Sandejas brood as they regularly hold themed nights for dinner like pasta night, Japanese night, Hainanese night and Chinese night. They also love to indulge in hearty and savory dishes like steak, grilled chicken, lasagna, pesto pasta, risotto, mashed potatoes, quesadilla and desserts like tiramisu, chocolate cake and gelato.

SUZI ENTRATA-ABRERA  

Television host Suzi Entrata-Abrera is another personification of a working mom who has maintained a tight family bond amidst a demanding television career. A television host for nearly 20 years in one of the country’s longest-running morning programs, Suzi is a full-time mom to three daughters, 15-year old Leona, 14-year old Jade and 12-year old Nella and wife to television host Paolo Abrera. Like Christine, Suzi prioritizes her family above all else. Aside from her daily morning show, Suzi also shares her own motherhood tips in a lifestyle talk show aimed towards moms. Sofitel holds a special place in the Abrera family’s hearts as Suzi and Paolo spent their honeymoon in the hotel 17 years ago. “Since then, the family has been fond of spending staycations in Sofitel Manila and the kids love dining at Spiral especially during breakfast which is their favorite,” Suzi delightfully shares.

Despite her busy work schedule, Suzi has built a very close relationship with her daughters together with her husband as they share their love for international cuisine. The Abreras regularly hold the “Monday Night Special,” a tradition started by Suzi four years ago where she prepares a featured cuisine for dinner. It has since become popular among relatives and friends that she also invites them over to join. Suzi’s kids have developed a shared love for Japanese food including sushi, curry, katsudon, tempura and udon. With Suzi’s penchant for cooking, she has learned to cook different cuisines that the kids appreciate. Leona loves salads like Greek or taco salad and pasta like carbonara. Jade loves Filipino food like tinapa (smoked fish), ginataan (dishes with coconut milk) and liempo (grilled pork belly) as well as vegetables like sigarilyas (winged beans), sitaw (green beans) and monggo (mung bean). The youngest, Nella, is a meat-lover and likes to indulge in steak, lamb and Moroccan lamb stew.
